You might encounter an "X," or error message on your OneDrive icon in various places (shown below). This usually indicates a sync issue.
To resolve this issue:
- Click on the OneDrive icon on the bottom right of your taskbar
- Click on the "Resolve" button
- Here, OneDrive will let you know what the specific issue with the file is. Options will show up with how you may go about resolving your issue. You can click on one of these possible solutions to get redirected to the place where you can solve the issue.
- Once your issue is resolved, the status will be updated so that there will no longer be an "X" on the OneDrive icon.
Here are some common reasons why you might have received this "X" error:
- Internet Connection: make sure you are connected to the internet when making changes and saving a file
- File Size Limit: files larger than 100GB cannot be synced
- File in Use: if a file is open in another application, it cannot be synced
- Permissions Issues: lack of proper permissions to access the file or folder
- Conflicting Files: files with the same name in the same location can cause conflicts
If the issue persists after following all these steps, you might need to check for updates, restart, or reinstall OneDrive on your computer.
